Why do they call it chicagoland
I grew up in the suburbs and, even then as a kid, my parents taught me to say that we were from the western suburbs of Chicago. My hope is we strive to be more inclusive. Chicagoland sounds very uppity to me, All other large cities use the term "metro" or "greater" in front of it, and now Chicago needs their own term?
Or maybe Detroit should be called Detroitland and include Flint. Then it could be called Murderland instead. First off, many other metropelxes have nicknames that are used commonly when suffering to an area. Secondly, it is not like all of a sudden Chicago decided last year that the area around the city should be "Chicagoland".
